The Gang

Cindee was born in Miami, Florida and found by friends of Mommy and Daddy abandoned in a cardboard box. There were signs of abuse found all over her body and as a result Cindee grew up afraid of everything.

Somehow the little Labrador/Pitbull mix grew up to be an intelligent and very loving girl. It was this loving and nurturing side of Cindee that lead the others to adopt her as leader of “The Gang.”

Throughout the years Cindee suffered through three knee surgeries before finally passing due to complications of Canine Kidney Disease.

Mylo was born in Tennessee and brought to Mommy and Daddy by a rescue organization. Upon their first meeting Cindee sized Mylo up and gave him a big kiss on the top of his head, there by accepting him into The Gang.

Mylo could always be seen hanging out with his new best friend Cindee, whom he affectionately called “Old Lady”. This Siberian Husky/Great Pyrenes mix is known for his playful nature and can often be a trickster. His kryptonite? Trucks. The sound of a truck or bus will send him scurrying in the opposite direction seeking a safe hiding place.

Mylo was by Cindee’s side every moment of her illness and was with her at her passing.

These days, Mylo can be found chasing down a ball or hanging with Ziggy, as the two are inseparable.

Ziggy was born in Texas and came to Mommy and Daddy via a rescue organization. This black Pitbull/Chow Chow mix arrived after the passing of Cindee, but was quickly accepted into The Gang by Mylo and Berkley.

Ziggy quickly became fast friends with Mylo and the two travel everywhere together, play together and sleep together. Ziggy’s biggest joys in life are hanging out with Mylo, giving unending sloppy kisses to anyone and everyone he meets and gnawing on a good bone.

This doggy is the strong silent type, electing to only bark when Mommy or Daddy breaks out the breakfast or dinner plates. His biggest fear? Being separated from his buddy Mylo.

Rapi (pronounced Hoppy) was born in the Doral neighborhood of Miami. He was found lost and alone in the parking lot of an office complex. He was standing at the door when Cindee walked through for the first time and greeted her with his now famous greeting for her …”Hey …Brown Sugar!”

This portly orange tabby was a lover, not a fighter. He would turn on his latin charms whenever a female of any species entered a room. It would be Cindee that he would form a lifelong friendship with. The two of them would often be found lounging in front of the big windows talking about love and life.

Rapi was often an unwitting comedian, a loyal friend, and at times a little hot headed. Rapi was the last of the original gangsters, passing suddenly from a blood clot in his heart.

Berkley was born in Buffalo, New York. This grey and white piebald cat showed up at 6 Autumn Lane after the Christmas Blizzard of 2022. He was very sick and homeless, so Mommy and Daddy took him to the vet to get him healthy again.

It was Cindee and Mylo who talked Mommy and Daddy into taking Berkley in over Rapi and Yehudi’s objections. Soon, he was accepted as a member of The Gang where he earned the nickname “Big Head”. Like Rapi, Berkley loves a good bowl of tuna. Berkley likes to spend his time hanging out people watching and playing laser tag with Yehudi.

These days, Berkley can be found getting into mischief with his boys Mylo and Ziggy.

Yehudi was born in New York City. This cute girl was “kitty kept” by Mommy and Daddy. She was trapped by Mommy and Daddy along with her brothers and mother. The whole family was re-homed. Cindee and Bella begged Mommy and Daddy to keep Yehudi and so, Yehudi was accepted into The Gang.

Yehudi is a loner who prefers to spend much of her time in her secret space in the attic contemplating the meaning of life. This tiny tuxedo cat is the intelligent one and whenever somebody in The Gang needs a logical or scientific answer to something … Yehudi is the go to cat.

Yehudi is a recovering addict. She became addicted to the red laser dot at a young age, always seeking out the laser pointer. Yehudi is also the only one at 6 Autumn Lane who is not afraid of mice. Yehudi was steadfast friends with Bella.

Esmeralda was born in Buffalo, New York and is the newest member of the Gang. One of the neighbors on Autumn Lane was moving and simply let Esmeralda out of the house saying she was wild and untamed. Mylo and Ziggy quickly spotted her and talked Mommy and Daddy into taking her in.

Esmeralda was accepted by all The Gangsters. In no time this black and white fluff ball was besties with Mylo and Ziggy. Each evening the three of them get together on the sofa and tell stories while snuggling into one giant fur ball.

Her hobbies include snuggling, playing with the dogs, snuggling, people watching and snuggling. Esmeralda has earned the nickname “Squeak” because of her high squeaky voice.

Bella was born in Miami, Florida, where she was found hiding alone and scared inside a bush at an office complex.

Bella was a diva. She was often perceived as stuck up by Cindee and Rapi because she used her cute girlie looks to get extra loving from the humans. This animosity lead to Bella being nicknamed “The Nemesis” by Cindee and the Gang. This led to Bella befriending the loner Yehudi which eventually led to an unbreakable bond between the two cats.

When Bella fell ill, Yehudi did her best to nurse her friend back to health, staying by her side until Bella was taken to the emergency room where she passed.

Bennie was born in The Hammocks neighborhood of Miami. She was discovered crying in a bush on a rain soaked day by Mommy and Daddy. Bennie was the first fur baby to be taken in by them and this earned her the moniker “The Original Gangster”.

Bennie’s full name is Bencinha which means “little blessing” in Portuguese. It wasn’t until later that Mommy, Daddy and the rest of The Gang realized that this “little blessing” was in fact the devil in disguise.

Bennie often lulled cat, dog and human alike into a sense of trust, and just when she had them believing, she would lash out with open claws. Cindee would relate in one of her tall tales about the day that Bennie would push an unsuspecting Rapi out the second floor window, all the while laughing maniacally at her deed. Bennie did, however, take Bella into her care and acted as a mother to the younger cat until her dying day.

Bennie would develop cancer which would ultimately claim her life at the age of eleven.

Cosita Linda was born in Miami and grew up on the streets until she was taken in and given to Mommy and Daddy. She joined Bennie as the second member of The Gang.

Because of her life on the streets Cosita grew up to be fearless and remained that way with only one exception … Bennie. When Cindee arrived she quickly befriended the younger dog and began to teach her the ways of doggy hood. Cindee often attributed her ability to love and forgive to Cosita, as well as her ability to bark at the mail carrier and dig holes in the yard.

Cosita passed from bladder cancer at the age of ten. Cindee would often talk about Cosita fondly to the younger cats and dogs who had never met her.
